Week 1

The wildcats have been experimenting with different components in creating a circuit.

The wildcats are working hard this week to use our skills of multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000.

Week 2

This week in English we looked at some more police reports, from this we made a success criteria. Then we shared wrote and introduction for a police report as a class, after that we wrote our very own police report. We used time connectives, ISPACE, the 5 W's and the past tense. We are going to send our reports to Miss Cross-Gower's uncle, who is a police man, to see what he thinks of them.

In maths we have been learning how to multiply and divide by 10, 100, 1000 and 10000. We learnt that the decimal place doesn't move but the numbers do! We then learnt that we can use this knowledge to help us convert between mm, cm and m.

In Science we were given the question 'Does the length of wire affect components in a circuit?'
We wrote our prediction, equipment list and method and then we carried out our own experiments.
What do you think the results were?

Week 1

In Year 6 we have worked really hard this week.

During our English lessons we talked about how to use the past tense and connectives correctly, also we learnt what chronological order is and why it is important to know this. We then had a look at a police report and drew a story map of what had happened. We also talked about the 5 W's (who, what, where, when and why) and why they are important when writing a report.

In maths we have been focussing on place value: large numbers, ordering numbers, identifying place value and writing numbers.

In science this week we have been looking at electricity and circuits. We learnt how to draw circuits, using the correct symbols. Then we carried out an experiment to see what the relationship was between the number of cells and the brightness of the bulb.

Computing - touch typing

This week we have been learning to touch type in computing. Using our touch typing skills,
we are trying to not look at the keyboard while typing. Many of us are already starting to get the
hang of it by completing more stages.
We are looking forward to start touch typing in our daily routine.

A warm welcome from the Wolves.

Welcome to the Year 6 Wolves! We are excited to be in Year 6 because we have the responsibility to be prefects, house captains, school council and KS1 buddies. This week we have already played some games and are learning how to work as a team.
Please check this blog weekly as we will always be updating it.
 Watch out for the Wolves!
